Council Aims and Objectives

Handforth Town Council Aims to:

 

  1. promote a strong sense of community within a town where residents feel supported, included and safe.
  2. maintain a town centre that is attractive for both residents and visitors.
  3. promote appreciation of the green spaces within the parish that help sustain the notion that Handforth is a gateway to the Cheshire    countryside.
  4. encourage the social integration of residents of old and new elements of the urban area.
  5. promote the use of sustainable modes of transport within the parish.
  6. encourage healthy recreation for the young and the elderly including sport, local history, culture and the arts.
  7. provide a style of local government such that local residents feel that they are effectively represented

 

Handforth Town Council Objectives are to:

 

  1. maintain an awareness within the community of the activities of the town council.
  2. form working partnerships with other public bodies in order to enhance services.
  3. support local community groups by providing facilities (e.g. meeting places) and grants. HTC Grant Application Form NEW Adopted May 2024
  4. encourage the preservation and enhancement of our local countryside by techniques such as tree planting and re-wilding projects.
  5. support projects that encourage walking and cycling as healthy alternatives to the use of motor cars.
  6. support the provision of a sustainable transport hub near the station including a bus turning circle and a park and ride scheme.
  7. promote town centre events that encourage town centre vitality and community spirit.
  8. encourage physical and mental health in all age groups by supporting the relevant facilities.
